I have been using Bleachbit for over a month without any problems. But today it has wiped out, while using the regular clearing of junks, all the bookmarks in Firefox profiles.

i get this error from ubuntu 10.1 (updated) 32 bit software center when im trying to install the bonus-bleachbit.deb package :
There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at http://launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+filebug and retry.
I can install other deb packages properly. but bleachbit-bonus can not :(

I am going to use rematersys to make backups for myself. I was advised to use bleachbit if I was going to make live DVD's to hand out to to others.....
I imagine that configurations such as all the IM settings for Emapthy and a score of other things will be wiped out if I do this. My question then is how to get those settings backed up?
I did see Ubuntu tweak --> Desktop recovery may do this.
The problem with that app is that I have no idea where the backup resides and does beachbit wipe this file? If so good in a way but then I have to back it up elsewhere.

If you uncheck translations you get the following error when you start the application.
unchecking translations suggests that "other then English" translations are not installed and that all needed files for the chosen/default language are available.

Hello I noticed that the Windows version runs in to the VirtualStore if it tries to save the bleachbit.exe.log
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\BleachBit
It would be nice if it would follow MS guidelines and write it to %AppData%\BleachBit\bleachbit.exe.log to prevent Visualization.
Regards,
Ronny

I selected all the checkboxes at once and then started the cleanup routine. I was monitoring the progress of Bleachbit, which seemed to have gained me about 5 Gig of space at one point during its execution. Then the space seemed to be getting smaller. Then I noticed this line in the bleachbit terminal console!
debug: wrote 1 files and 6548791296 bytes
Which therefore seems to be doing the absolute opposite of what it's intended to do. Beyond this point my disk space was really shrinking badly and I had to kill bleachbit.
What's going on?

I want to wipe the freespace on a usb-mounted drive (which I just formatted, so free space is all of it) and am not sure how. The preferences/drives tab seems likely, but I don't understand what role the "directory to write to" has or how to specify anything other than the root partition. For example, if the extra drive I want to wipe is mounted at /media/ThisDrive, how would I point Bleachbit at it?

Hi all :)
I have a little problem installing the 0.7.1 bonus pack on my brand new Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE 4.5.1.
When trying to install, I get an error message "Can't open file »/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci//.svn«: Is a directory"
Does anyone know how to solve that problem?
So long,
Andy
