I've just used BleachBit for the 1st time. So far I'm impressed w/ what it finds - for the ADMIN ACCT used in Vista, to allow installing Bitbleach.

At 1st, could not imagine why it wasn't finding anything for the user acct currently active (and only acct logged on to in Vista).
As you know, lauching BB prgm brings up the UAC screen. Since there's NOTHING mentioned in any help file, documentation, etc. (AFAIK), that in order to find files to be deleted under a limited user acct, you simply have to hit "Cancel" on the UAC screen, asking for an admin PW.

I have heard that registry cleaners are ultimately a risk to the stability of a Windows system, therefore I want to stay away from them. Is Bleachbit a registry cleaner of some type or just a junk files cleaner (ex: something better than Windows Disk Cleanup). I just do not want my registry messed with and possibly have it corrupted or something important deleted that may cause my system to not boot. So basically, do I have any concerns when using this program (have used it in Linux and is fabulous).

Hi everybody, just writing here to inform you that probably Bleachbit it's not ready for Gnome 3.
When I run the application it usually remove the background and I need to set it again. That's not so strange since the last version was out before Gnome 3.
I'm Just trying to make my little contribute, I didn't find out what make it remove the background. I don't know if it was something already known.
If is something new I can investigate more and give you more information and thank you for this great piece of software.

I need to run BleachBit as Root on Fedora 14 KDE, When I go into my settings menu it only lists one BleachBit, there is no Run as Administrator for BleachBit, so if I try through the terminal (Konsole) I get this...

Installed bleachbit using the lastest version for CentOS. When trying to run from gnome, no app pops up. I kick off on the command line and get the following error:

Will crash the system if we use the bleachbit with sudo on Ubuntu (10.04+) ? Is there users (on this forums) who had try it ?

I'm using the RHEL6 based Scientific Linux 6.0 and downloaded the latest source code (bleachbit-0.8.7.tar.bz2) to compile BleachBit. Running sudo python setup.py install gives me this warning: "warning: cannot find GPLv3 license text file". The install process seems to finish nonetheless, except Bleachbit isn't installed at all.

Recently, BleachBit removes the thumbnails on my Google Chrome (10.0.648.82 beta, although it did this last under v9 beta, too) toolbar and in my bookmarks. To get them back, I have to click on each and every bookmark...HUNDREDS...in order for the thumbnail to reload. I had unchecked thumbnails and thumbs in BleachBit before I ran it today and it still removed all of my bookmark thumbnails.
