Why not install from Linux repository
The version of BleachBit in the repositories of many Linux distributions is often stale. Distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora have a no-rolling release policy, so the version of BleachBit for each release is locked. For example, the latest Linux Mint 22.3 is based on Ubuntu 24.04, which ships BleachBit 4.6.0, while 4.6.2 was released October 2024, so the latest BleachBit in Linux Mint has been obsolete for one and a half years (as of May 2026).
The only way to update BleachBit from the distribution's repository is to upgrade to a newer release, which may not be available. Therefore, please consider installing BleachBit using the packages above.
