Bleachbit Ver1.10 will not update

Forums:

ALOHA
I am using WIN 10 32 bit

However the same issue exists on my other computer Win7 64 bit
All Adblockers / Pop-up Blockers are disabled
Not blocked in Win Firewall
I have uninstalled and Re-installed latest version

However when I open Bleachbit in either Standard or Admin account, with download new updates enabled in prefs, I get the following error>
Error when checking for updates:

Any ideas to fix this?

Do you use an HTTP proxy to access the Internet? These are most common on corporate networks.

Thanks for your quick response
No I don''t
I use ATT DSL / Uverse
I have been using Bleachbit for several years & this issue started about 6 mnths ago.
I was thinkin perhaps the update servers changed, thats why I uninstalled and reinstalled
My only guess is that perhaps A Windows Security update changed something.
I use CCleaner in conjunction with B-Bit & I have been using the same AV program ( Avast on Cptr#1)
(Panda AV on Cptr#2) Both Free Versions.
I also use Malwarebytes(Free Ver) and it updates without any issues. although I have to manually update it. I don't imagine B-Bit itself would delete or change any vital settings.
Any other ?s Please let me know

Additional Info
Not sure that it matters but I found this by accident when I opened B-Bit with Network cable disconnected.
I got this message> Error when opening a network connection to http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/communicate.php to check for updates. Please verify the network is working.
This is probably normal but I don't know, so I thought I would throw it out there
Again Thanks for you help

BleachBit version 1.10 communicates over HTTP (TCP port 80) to bleachbit.sourceforge.net, and when your network is disconnected, the error message is normal.

When your network is working, these messages are abnormal.

Would you please try putting Avast or Panda antivirus into gamer mode (or whatever they call it to temporarily disable them)?

ALOHA Andrew
Sorry for the delay in responding
I already run both AV Programs in AV Mode & have also temporarily disabled them altogether, the problem still exists.
One thing I noticed in my Router Firewall settings is that I don't have FTP enabled, however it has been this way in the past when the update procedure did work.
In reference to the error message when internet cable is disconnected, I knew I would get some type of error message, however I was just trying to illustrate the file path to the update server to ensure it was correct.
I notice on this page in the New section it says something about "New Domain Name & Servers" does that have any bearing on the file update servers?
Again that's why I uninstalled and reinstalled figuring if it were a new update server that that would correct the issue.
I guess not though.
Thanks again for your help thus far.

CORRECTION >I already run both AV Programs in GAMER Mode.

You mentioned that you checked your router firewall. Do you also run a software firewall along side that, such as Windows firewall or another third party firewall? If so, double check the rules and make sure BleachBit is allowed.

Also, are you running both AVs on the same computer? If so, this may be an issue. You should never use more then 1 AV on the same system, unless one is just on-demand.

No the 2 different AV Programs are on 2 Different Computers 1 with Win 7 (64bit) & the other with Win 10 32bit as mentioned previously.
In reference to Windows Firewall (On BOTH Computers) even though it worked in the past to update. tonight I created a specific rule for Bleachbit, exe (In& Out Allowed) & also temporarily Disabled the firewall completely.
Still getting same error> Error when checking for updates:

The Router Firewall only addresses specific Protocols , although you can create allowances for online games such as W.O.W. and Call of duty or whatever.
However I don't have any need to enable those as I don't use any Games.
Again My AV Programs update Automatically & Since I use the free version of Malwarebytes, I have to update it Manually. These both update without errors.
I could understand if this error were on only one computer, however it occurs on 2 different computers with 2 different operating systems.
Also if it were a matter of B-Bit being Corrupted, I would imagine that Un-install, Re-Install would fix that.
Not sure it would matter But I don't use I.E. as my browser. I use a Chromium Based Browser Although Not Google Chrome.
But again in the past when I opened B-Bit ,when New updates were available They would Download / Install
With or Without my browser enabled, as long as I had an active internet connection.
Additional info> The update files Winapp2.ini have a file path Location as follows
C:\Users\HeyWood\AppData\Roaming\ Bleachbit
Is that correct?
Any more info needed , just let me know

From my understanding, I know for sure that Avast has a DNS service that comes with there AV product. I do not know if Panda AV has the samething, but when you disable real-time protection or put it in gamer mode, it will not disable the DNS service. Can you please check if your Avast and Panda AV have a DNS service with it. If so, please disable it and see if that solves the issue.

If that doesn't work, do you use a custom host file at all? This may also come with your AV packages. To check, please go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts and check that BleachBit isn't being blocked there. If you don't know which IP BleachBit is using, then please just remove the custom host file for temporally and check if that solved the issue.

If none of the above work, can you please try running BleachBit in debug mode and see if we can pinpoint the issue. To do this, run the command line "--debug-log" without quotes.
