Is this GNOME 2.30? I see the same in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04). Last year I put in a workaround for GNOME 2.26 because BleachBit correctly deletes ~/.recently-used.xbel, but the GNOME panel doesn't re-read the file. For GNOME 2.26, BleachBit truncates the file (instead of just deleting it), but that no longer works in GNOME 2.30. I'll see what else I can come up with.
