Test BleachBit 0.8.3 beta
Please test the new BleachBit 0.8.3 beta with important bug fixes, significant enhancements, and translation updates. In particular, please test:
- In the preferences, enable overwrite. Then delete files found by cleaners (especially cleaners which remove directories).
- Clicking File - Shred Files and preview a large directory. While it is still previewing, click OK to confirm to delete.
- Click File - Wipe Free Space and choose a folder. Notice the progress bar updates the percentage and gives an ETA. (To abort, close the BleachBit Window.)
- Choose several options including deep scan, System - Memory or System - Free Disk Space. Notice the order is now: general cleaners, deep scan, memory, and free disk space.
- Notice the 'free disk space' option is much faster and the same as other tools (such as "dd if=/dev/zero"). BleachBit prints the speed (in MB/s) to the terminal/console after the operation is finished.
- Right click on a cleaner option and choose Preview or Delete.
- Click Help - Contents to view the documentation. When prompted whether to open your web browser, choose both options.
- Clean Opera.
- Clean Google Chrome. Notice Google Chrome extensions do not lose settings. LP#678377
- Review the new documentation "Things to know".
- Windows
- Clean WinRAR.
To look for regressions follow the standard tests on the "Testing" page.
