Error while trying to start

Forum tags:
Forums:

I continually get this error message:

Errors Occurred
See the logfile 'C:\Program Files (x86)\BleachBit\bleachbit.exe.log' for details

I have searched and found people with similar error messages, but Im not seeing a fix.
I have tried uninstalling and restarting but still receive the same error

BleachBit version:
2.2
Your operating system:
Windows 7

There can be different reasons for this symptom, and there should be more clues in the log, so would you please open that log file, copy the contents, and paste the contents here into the forum?

The configuration file is corrupt. A few people have reported this since BleachBit version 2.2, but I have not been able to reproduce it. There are solutions, and I have some questions that can help me troubleshoot it for a better fix.

Questons

1. Did you use this version of BleachBit earlier without this error? Or did you use a previous version without the error? Or is this a new installation of BleachBit?

2. Did you use Chocolately to install BleachBit?

3. Do you use AVG or Avast as security software?

4. Would you mind sending me your file %appdata%\bleachbit\bleachbit.ini by email to ahz001 at gmail.com or by attachment to a new issue at https://github.com/bleachbit/bleachbit/issues ?

Solutions

1. Delete or rename the configuration %appdata%\bleachbit\bleachbit.ini

2. Or, install any new version from https://ci.bleachbit.org/ which has a workaround to automatically delete the corrupt configuration, so BleachBit will start without crashing

Questons

1. Did you use this version of BleachBit earlier without this error?

Yes. In as administrator ran 2.2 to check if it worked; it worked. Deleted 2.2 and reinstalled; it did not work after reinstall. It was reinstalled for all users, it did not work for the administrator or the users.

Or did you use a previous version without the error?

Yes

Or is this a new installation of BleachBit?

New install. 2.2 would not work on user profiles.

2. Did you use Chocolately to install BleachBit?

No.

3. Do you use AVG or Avast as security software?

I installed Kapersky trial version and I believe that bleachbit stopped working after that.

4. Would you mind sending me your file %appdata%\bleachbit\bleachbit.ini by email to ahz001 at gmail.com or by attachment to a new issue at https://github.com/bleachbit/bleachbit/issues ?

I could not find %appdata%\bleachbit\bleachbit.ini, did you mean %appdata%\roaming\bleachbit\bleachbit.ini

just want to add that I am not bergio, I am someone who has encountered the same problem.
