BleachBit not working on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Forums:
Forum tags:

When I try to run BleachBit on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, I don't get beyond the preview. It gets as far as "Previewing LibreOffice" and then it freezes and the monitor turns grey. When I then try to close the window, I get a message to the effect of "Program not responding" and I have to force quit. I heave tried installing and uninstalling from both the Ubuntu software repository and SourceForge numerous times, along with countles reboots, and have tried from administrative and nonadministrative accounts. Any advice? I am a neophyte home user.

[SOLVED] How to Complete Clear Firefox URL History?

Forums:

In general, I love the program. But so far I haven't found how to completely remove a URL from within Firefox's memory. I have all options checked within BB for Firefox. However, after having run BB, if I type a URL -- for a site I've directly typed in the past -- into the address bar, Firefox remembers the hostname. It doesn't remember all the pages I've been to, but it does remember the domain. This seems a little insecure. How can I totally clear the History with BB?

OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Browser: Firefox 29.0

After execution as root, can't sign in to user account

Forums:

I've just taken up BleachBit (BB), and it's thoroughly impressive. I probably also probably have made my first serious mistake. I'm posting to get response(s) from those more experienced than I so I can decide what to to do next.

I dual-boot Windows Vista and Kubuntu (KB) 13.10 on one computer, and KB 13.10 alone on 3 others. I've run BB three times now - once on one of my KBs (as user acct.), and twice on Vista (as admin, then as user). No problems.

Recovering wiped free Disk space

Forums:

Hello

We have this workstation HP Z600 with dual boot in Linux (CentOS6) and Windows with Memory 1Tb.
We mostly operate the system in CentOS in order to support our software products. Before running Bleachbit software we had about 400 GB data and 600 GB free space. While running Bleachbit software, we accidentally checked the option for "wipe Free disk space and Swap Memory." After the process is complete, we have warning low memory notification and unable to run any software. Is there anyway to recover the 600GB of the free space and make it usable like before.

Unremovable folder after trying to "Wipe Free Space"

First I would like to thank you for a great yet simple to use application.

Now to solving an issue.

I tried to run "Wipe Free Space" on one of my hard drive partitions (271 GB) in Linux (Mint 16 Cinnamon). It progressed fine until a certain point (about 80% of the way) then stopped. I tried again and the same thing happened.

[feat] Support for XBMC logs

Forums:

I downloaded BleachBit (for Linux) because my drive was nearly full, and I was pleasantly surprised. However, BleachBit 'only' recovered a gigabyte or so.

When manually combing my /home/, I found that the logfiles:
~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.old
~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.old.log
together were a whopping 41 GIGABYTES.

Also, I had many many files in /home/ called ~/xbmc_crashlog-_.log

Of course, the verbosity varies between version and build, but the annoying buildup of crashlogs is something that seems steady throughout different versions. ;)

Ubuntu Linux - Google Chrome (History) Error

Forums:

Hello,

I am currently running version 0.95 of bleachbit and when I try to clear the history of Google Chrome I keep getting the following error message:

"no such column: image_data: /home/username/.config/google-chrome/Default/Favicons"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Kind regards.

System Used: Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit)
Google Chrome version: 24.0.1312.52 (but the error was present for all previous versions used).

Linux Google Chrome Passwords

When running BleachBit 0.9.4 to clean up Google Chrome my saved passwords are being deleted. I figured since Google Chrome does not have a Passwords check box option similar to Firefox that my passwords would not be removed.
